Getting the Wheeling Fever

I have to haul several loads of dirt for my father and was wondering if someone can give me a general idea about how much dirt I can fit in my '04 XCab V6 SR5. Manual says 1480 pounds, but that doesn't help me much since we never got around to purchasing that gigantic scale. I figured we would load until we got about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the suspension stops.
I really need to make as few trips as I can. I don't know if there is a weight difference in dirt, but I'm hauling fill dirt, not clay or that fancy topsoil (if that makes a difference). It'll be slightly moist.
Thanks!
