91 Trooper front brake pads

Need a Spot

After replacing my rear pads, I decided to do the front pads, which I thought would be a piece of cake. NO WAY. The pads, which I checked again with the store, are about 1/8" wider than the caliper.
Any ideas as to what is going on or better yet a remedy?

(I knew it was going too smooth)

Love my '91 and '02 Troopers, yet still old and in the way. Stock can be fun too!
