Here we go guys, I am just now getting into my new build up good. This is what it looked like before. [Linked Image] [Linked Image]
I am going to have a Vortech 4.3 mated to a 350 tranny. I have the 4l60e trany that came with it however I just dont want to have to deal with the computer tranny. Plus it would cost me way to much to mount the t-cases behind that tranny. My transfer case is going to be a 203/300 doubler. Here are a few pictures of the motor, trany and t-case. Now for the good news. I have been looking for some axles for awhile now. I already have the dana 44, but I wanted to do this once and be done with it. Sooooo I found these the other week. [Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image]
Yeap that there is a set of 1 tons. The rear 14 bolt has a detroit in it already. So all I need to do is gear that one. The front 60 will need to be spooled and geared.

Ok here is where I am at now. The chassie is stripe down and is ready to go to the sandblaster. I am going to be taking the axles off the trailer tomorow night and stripe them down and get them ready for the sandblaster aswell. I have got it set up to be blasted next saturday. Then I will bring them back to the shop to prime them up.

I have order my rebuild kit for the dana 300 and as soon as it comes I will rebuild that. I also wanted to rebuild the 203 but for the price of the rebuild kit and seeing as I am only going to use the reduction box I chose not to buy the kit. Instead I will cheak it out real good and just order the front seal and any other parts it might need.

I know it has not been much done on my part to this trooper but I have spent most of my time the last month or so on them flairs. Which I will be updateing that thread in a little while.

Spooled? For a front 60? Not like it won't be able to hold up to the abuse, but you might want to consider an Electrac instead? Just my $0.02

probably due to cost. A full spool will only run you less than $200 for sure fire, brute strong traction. Your cheapest full case locker, prolly a detriot, will run close to $550... an electrac or ARB, even more. So there's considerably money to be saved if you can deal with the characteristics of a spool. Plus, I like not having the worry about whether its locked or not, like i once did with my selectable OX.

Nope the paint will stay the same. Well not the bottom of the trooper anyway. That is going to be line-x.

Yeah just what Rob said. I just don't have the funds to spend on a selectable locker. (wish I did though)

Later,
Daniel

Ok guys, tonight I am going to start to take the axles down and prep them for the sanblasting on saturday. The 14 bolt I am going to take the drums off and all the brake lines. The 60 front is already down to the housing. Might take the outer knuckle off and the steering stuff. Anything else you guys think I might need to get off before saturday?

Later,
Daniel
