Body Damage is Cool
I'd throw the 3" on there while you mock it up, then lower it to only what you will need. big heavy rig (to be thrashed to its fullest potential )+ extended body mount bolts = one other thing you might have to worry about

Thanks Daniel.

I agree with Matt,no b/l....it will cause more trouble down the line. The more hardcore a truck is,the more likely it will be to snap rear body bolts......they get to be a pain to replace after every other trailride.....just my .02.

dude, you've already got it all borken down, might as well perfect that suspension and get the ride height right so you don't have to crew around with a body lift
besides boy lifts are for cheaters

when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

Despite how much I like the added height, IÆm beginning to re-think the idea of having a body lift myself.

BTW, thatÆs some very impressive work youÆve been doing, Broà I canÆt wait to see it in action when youÆre done!

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

SO WHAT SAY YAH?

I'm not real fond of big body lifts either (I have a 2" BL), but they do give you a few advantages that you just can't get otherwise. It's not just for fitting larger tires. Some things to consider:

First and foremost, the fuel tank is an anchor. You can raise it about 3 inches with even just a 2" BL.

The BL can give you that little extra bit of premium space under the hood that may be needed if you're planning a motor swap.

A BL gives you more room underneath to route things like exhaust higher and out of the rocks. You can clock your t-case higher, etc. This is more important with longer wheel bases.

This may be a marginal difference, but a 2" BL will still give you a lower CG than 2 more inches of suspension lift.

The biggest negative to a BL is the longer bolts and leverage on them. Since you've stripped it right down to the frame, just weld permanent spacers with their own nuts/threaded holes to your existing body mounts. Add a bit of gusseting to them and you don't have any of the downsides. Stock length bolts will work and no extra leverage from unsupported lift pucks.

Am I reading this right? you are saying to weld the spacer to the bottom of the body? Then just run the bolt up through? Not sure
I had a 3inch body lift on this to begin with and just not sure if I need it now? Like you said I am going with a different motor and I would like to do something with the tank.

Later,
Daniel

No, raise the mounts on the frame so that the lift pucks are not needed. You could cut and re-weld or re-build the mounts on the frame entirely, but you could easily make up steel spacers and weld to the existing mounts to raise them as well. Gusset them well for lateral support and you have lift, but the body will still be setting directly on the frame mounts, not on laterally-unsupported lift pucks. You're also raising the threaded hole in the frame (now in the top of the welded in spacer), so the bolts don't need to be any longer.

well I was out there in the shop welding on the frame and ran out of gas again. So I started to grind some and well I just got tired of that. So I started to break down the other 60 I got for the parts that I need to make one whole axle. Anyway I took the locking hub off and the parts just started to fall out. I finaly got the hub off man was that a job. The only way I saw that it would come off is seperate the hub from the rotor. Is that the only way to get the hub off or did I miss something there? Hell I still have yet to get the darn rotor off. It is just clanking around and the brake caliber is stoping it from coming off. The spindle is shot the threads on the outside of it are striped. Anyone no where i can get one? There isn't one on ebay right now but I will keep checking. I guess I should wait and check the other side out to see if I need two of them.

Later,
Daniel
