Hi modern_cowboy, that was me who did the conversion. I used the motor mounts from the diesel right in the S10. But my motor came from a S10 in the first place. My Sonoma originally had a 4.3 auto in it, so the mounts were altogether wrong. The mounts with the diesel bolted right into place, even though getting the nut on the mount bolt was near impossible due to almost zero access. The lower half of the mount looks like a 4 cyl gas engine mount, though mind you I never compared the two together. If your motor came from a S10 from about 1983 onward, the mounts should bolt right in. If the motor came from a Isuzu, then I can't help you there. Also, the S10 Isuzu used a Borg-Warner transmission, which is the same unit the gasser used, though with a different bell housing to mate the diesel, and different gear ratios. My transmission right now is a standard 4 cyl one.
I hope this helps. Plese feel free to ask any questions.

thanks for the info! heres whats up though, i bought the motor first for $100 just engine and bellhousing they told me it came outta a 85 s-10. im finished re-building and got it running and just bought a 87 s10 4x4 with a 2.8 gas... problem i have is my diesel came with the engine side mounts but not the frame side of the mounts! the guy pulled the motor 10 years ago! so no chance going back to find em, trucks long gone... but i do have the bellhousing which sealed the deal in the first place! and it'll fit the t-5 no problem... so it looks like your going to have the NEWEST s-15 with a diesel in canada but you wont have the only one thats been conversion... so far all i have is a rebuilt engine and a rusty frame sitting on the ground with wall to wal of parts :P... i'll let u know how it goes and probably need to ask some more questions specially about electrical stuff!

I am interested to see how the conversion will go for you. The only unknown point I have right now is whether or not that will fit in the 1997 frame. There was some time around 1995 or so where they changed the frame on the S10, or so I was told. No one could tell me when and what was changed. I figured as long as the front part under the engine was the same, with the cross member in the same place, it will be a piece of cake. There is very little room on the 1991 between the front cross member and the oil pan...so close in fact, that any time I want to remove the motor I have to pull the tranny first. Maybe the Pup is like this also I don't know.
Anyway, keep us posted. Good luck with it. I guess this will make TWO of us crazy enough to put this diesel in a newer truck!

sorry about the confusion, i ment to say 87 not 97, i have gone back to edit that minor yet important detail..... so the frame better be the same!!!! i,ve takin into consideration what youve said though and might end up making the mounts myself well probably be best to you the 4.3 gas mounts and change the c223's brackets, might as well make sure its clear of everything when i do it anyway, im gonna lift the body 2 or so inches anyway but installing the engine should be no problem considering the frames laying on my shop floor striped and waiting to be cleand and painted, i just better remember to put the engine and tranny in place before the cab and rest of the body goes back on
