you did take the screw out, right?

i've never taken the doors apart on this truck, but according to the FSM you:

a. Remove the screw and slide the handle forward
b. Disconnect the hanlde from the control link and remove the handle.

there is a pic showing a little clip that holds the control link to the door handle...you swing that out to sort of unclip it from the conrol link...then the control link lifts out...you'll understand when you see it.
