you did take the screw out, right?

i've never taken the doors apart on this truck, but according to the FSM you:

a. Remove the screw and slide the handle forward
b. Disconnect the hanlde from the control link and remove the handle.

there is a pic showing a little clip that holds the control link to the door handle...you swing that out to sort of unclip it from the conrol link...then the control link lifts out...you'll understand when you see it.

On my 90 you take the screw out then push it either towards the front or rear of the truck, it will slide out. I just leave it there and take the rest of the panel off and turn the whole panel to get the handle through. Don't bother trying to get the handle off with the panel still on there.

I finally got it. The book I have failed to mention that you needed to push the bezel towards the front of the truck. Thanks for the help.

Hey Stan,
Does the FSM say how to fix a door lock that doesn't unlock with the key. I'd really like to fix that issue.

it shows how to replace the lock cylinder, but that's it.

but i'm not sure if you could get one that matched your other lock and ignition...i guess you could.

anyway, if the problem is happening with a copied key as opposed to an original toyota key, the problem could be key rather than the lock.

i've had several copies made...most of them don't work very well or at all in the doors (even though they do work in the ignition).

one key, in particular, worked in one door and not the other. i ground the teeth on that key down a little bit (basically simualted a lot of wear) and got it to work in both doors.

You could be lazy like me and swap it over to the pax side <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Inspect your linkage to see if you didn't lose something first.
