The board seems to be moving pretty slow recently, so I figured I'd ask a question to all of you out there. Who has a destination wheeling trip this year, and to where? As for myself, I'm planning a Rubicon trip during the summer as I've never been before. A September Moab trip may also be in the works, but that depends mainly on getting enough time off from work.

i'd love to be able to go somewhere, but with school and a part time job, my time and funds are quite limited. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Damon, The Rubicon has been closed for a while due to "everyone taking a dump in the woods" while making the 2, sometimes 3 days to cross from Loon Lake to Lake Tahoe. You'll want to check to be certain the trail is open again before heading over there. The Dusy-Erscheim Trail would be a good alternative if the Rubicon Trail is closed when you scheduled your vacation time.

As soon as the snow clears and the mud solidifies I am going to go to gorman, and the lockwood valley trails. I am dying to test my locker on the trails.

Fred, wow thanks for the info...I'll definitely keep an eye out for closures from now on.
Valleycat...keep me in mind when you're in town for Brown's Camp, I'd love to hook up and wheel with ya.

only spider lake is closed at the rubicon and little sluice is getting blasted(paved). i think most of the trail is open. if i make it there this summer, i'll be sure not to take a dump on the trail. you should meet me there, then we can head to brown's.

Valleycat,
I hadn't heard of any updates on the Rubicon for several months, this time year it wouldn't matter too much, anyway. Yeah, I guess I have been somewhat impressed with the impact we can have in an area where the 4x4 traffic is high. I know that some intermountain area trails require proof that you are carrying a portable toilet before entering these wilderness areas!
Fordyce would be a good alternative, too! I haven't done Fordyce or Dusy-erscheim; both look interesting! September seems to be a good time to do trails in CA. We had great warm September weather when we did the Rubicon, back in 2000. Can't believe it has been about 4-1/2 years!
The Naches trail in Washington looks like a fun trail for July or August? Damon, Any other great trails you like in Washington and Oregon?

I hope to make it to Tellico and Paragon this year. I wanna hit em up while I am still living on the east coast. I think another trip to Colorado would be awsome but I think that will be summer of 2006 unless I get stationed closer.
Cheers, RJ
