I was looking here: http://www.superwinch.com/pages/hubs.htmland noticed Superwinch lists two different part numbers for the D-50 4x4s - 400528 & 400543. Does anyone know the difference? I know the 400543 is what the Monteros use. It's just that I don't want to buy a set (when I'm scrounging in the junkyards) that's essentially useless. Are the hubs for the '81 and older D50s much different (ie, easy to tell from the later hubs)? TIA.

They are. I'm not really referring *just* to the Superwinch hubs but to Superwinch, Aisin, etc.

That would make sense if yours is an '87 (the 400528s are listed as being for the '81 and older trucks).

I believe there would only be a few measurements to be concerned with (i.e., bolt pattern, spline count, axel diameter & depth of spline).
May want to measure your existing hub and/or bring it with you on your next trip to the junk yard.

HMD would know for sure, but...aren't the '81-and-older D50's the Dodge-customized 4x4 trucks with a Jeep front axle or something? That part number didn't cross-reference to any other vehicle, but that's prolly why there's a difference.

I *think* the ones w/ the Dana 30 were some kind of limited edition (and that they didn't all have the D30). Don't know for sure, though. I think you're right about HMD; he's got quite the collection .
