Pack of flares.
Great idea.

Cell phone/CB/Ham Radio (pick one)
Covered.

Reflector belt (if you're on the side of the highway at night....)
Another great idea.

Flashlight that plugs into car battery
Good idea, but I have a NightStar flashlight - no batteries required. Very cool--you shake it to move a magnet thru a coil that charges a capacitor. 30 seconds of shaking gives 3 minutes of light.

I know, not what you meant, but good info.
Thank for the input.

I wish gas here was 2.00 a gallon.Unfortunately , we pay 70% gas tax on our fuel.I think a US gallon is 4.5 litres , and right now we are paying 91 a litre <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> The stupid thing is we are selling gas to the US and they pay less than we do.ARG!.On your truck , do you have a tranny cooler or electric brakes for your trailer? Pulling that much weight for that far , you might need them so your not working your tranny or brakes too hard.

That's well over $3 US/gallon!!!

Manual transmission, so no tranny cooler. Could I even get one if I wanted too? No electric brakes, but I did replace all of the brakes on the Trooper. I'd have preferred a trailer w/elec. brakes, but they're hard to find in the <3,000 lb. weight class. Hopefully, I'll stop every time I need to!

I'd buy a spare set accessory belts and take some brake fluid for clutch system. Both are precautionary measures.

I have the belts I took off when I replaced them last. Should be good enough to get me to a parts store. Brake fluid is a great idea.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I will definitely be doing some shopping--flares, brake fluid, etc.--before I go. I'll keep a log and post a trip report when it's all over.
