There had been some posts in the past on this forum about adding intermittent wipers to a truck that didn't come with them. I just wanted to reconfirm that all of the wiring for wipers is the same in Tacomas with or without intermittent wipers, and that the control for int wipers is in the switch itself.

I found an int wiper switch from a 96 or 98 Taco for $30 and popped it in yesterday. It was a direct swap and works perfectly. I also like that the wipers come on when you spray windshield washer fluid.

This may seem trivial to some, but not having them drove me nuts! We get a lot of snow in the winter and a healthy amount of rain, so now I am happy.

Brand new to this and came looking for info on adding Intermittent wipers, cruise control, and bucket seats to my '06 Tacoma.

Reference your post; are you saying I can buy the Intermittent switch for my '06, and plug it right in? If so, what does "plug in" mean?

Thanks,
Gary

plug and play means he did not have to modify anything major. you will most likely need to remove so parts from the steering wheel area.

Im not sure if this is the same for the 05-06's Im looking into this for myself. Keep checking back here for updates

Did you have to get a relay also? With the older trucks, most of the wiring was in place, so you just needed the switch assembly and the relay behind the ECU to upgrade.

Sorry, I don't know if this applies to the 2005 and newer trucks. I got the switch from a guy in GA who was parting a Tacoma. All the wiring is in place on the older Tacomas, it's just the switch that is different. I used the FSM stickied above to verify wiring before doing this, and for instructions on handling the airbag.
