I've got a 94 Rodeo v-6 with 128k on it. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Around 126k I got nervous and had the timing belt changed (before I found this website.) When I went to pick it up, I asked the tech at the dealership if I could see the old belt, I couldn't believe it looked almost new. The only wear was on the back side from the tension pulley. We got to talking and he told me that he has never seen a belt break and if one of the notches on the belt comes off, and causes the belt to jump a notch, the only damage it will do is leave you on the side of the road needing a timing belt. I'm planning on 300k out of my Rodeo and it's seen it's last timing belt.
