ANother question...

Did they replace this bearing with an identical tapered roller bearing and seperate race?

YES...

The bearings that came out of my 1997 Rodeo were manufactured by Timkin
(these were presumably the originals - I have no reason to think otherwise)

The replacements were Timkin æSet 10Æ
(which included: a Tapered Bearing, a Race, and an Inner Retaining Ring / Press-Fit Collar)

Everything went together, just like it was beforeà

The old Bearings and Retaining Rings were cut-off if the axle shafts. --- The old Seals were removed and replaced with the new ones. --- The new Bearings and Retaining Rings were pressed-on. --- The new Races were placed into the axle tube openingsà And then the shafts were re-installed.

SIDE NOTE:
I just got off of the phone with Rubo, and I believe he pretty much thinks IÆm nuts - because according to HIM, there is not a C-clip located immediately behind the Inner Retaining Ring / Press-Fit Collar on my axle shaftsà However, I was standing right there when one of them was removedà In fact, when it came off, it flew-over and hit me in the shin.

Until our conversation just now, I simply assumed that ALL Isuzu D-44s had this C-clipà But if Rubo is right, apparently it would seem that mine is the odd duck.

Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.
