the active boards around here are pretty much dominated by toyota.

You're aware that there are CJ based bulletin boards right? Why limit yourself when the entire internet is at your disposal?

The yards I go to are the type where you pull the part yourself, so I'd highly doubt if they ship. I know for a fact that there are yards like that in the Phoenix area as I've been to a couple while visiting. Bust out the phone book and have a look.

i'm aware of cj based bb's and also aware of e bay. i was talking local bb classifieds, which i have gotten some very good deals from lately. there are some jeep parts around, just not many.

yes we have several u pull it yards. i just got some dakota springs from one a couple weeks ago. not a bad deal at $40. just not many jeep parts. there are jeep specialty yards here and they sell at very high prices. and no one else seems to have jeep parts. the parts sources i used to deal with in portland or/vancouver wa are much better. i just called about 15 truck/4x4 yards last week looking for f150 hubs and rotors. one guy finally had some. i don't know where the parts go, but they're not that easy to find here. at least what i'm usually looking for.

You r best bet is to post up a "Wanted to Buy" ad in on eof the BBS classifieds sections, OR go HERE for the International Full Size Jeep Forum. This link is to the classifieds, and I saw a post on someone parting out a cherokee with a 360, that will likely sell you the manifolds..... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Finding OE manifolds should be as simple as finding AMC club members and their garages filled with AMC junk.
I used to be one of them, and last year I threw away 3 sets of those manifolds, yes I asked, no one wanted them.

$100 dollar headers are such junk that you will be changing them every year or two, then when you get sick of doing that you pay to have your exhaust redone. At least if you buy the OE manifolds or even (if set on headers) a quality set of Thorlys they will last for years.

i used to have a garage filled with amc parts as well. i've given away/thrown away several sets of oe manifolds/engines/axles etc. i gave all that stuff away when i moved to phx(which was a dumb thing to do) figuring it would be the same here. it's not. used parts are hard to come by. i actually sold a set of dana 30 axleshafts for $75. the guy didn't even try to bargain. i had 'em, nobody else did. who buys d30 axleshafts? the last 360 i looked at in a junkyard up north was $75 including intake, carb and exhaust. i don't know what they would want here. i asked about a waggy 44 rear at amc4x4(the closest jeep yard to my house)and they wanted $550. i can buy an entire waggy for that. driven auto parts(a big 4x4 yard and bronco specialty) wants $750 for a ford dana 44 front. the price of used parts in az is outrageous. i'm sure i'll have to get the manifolds shipped in unless i can find someone local but most drive toyotas. i haven't even seen many older jeeps on trail. lots of yj's and tj's. not many cj's though. i've never seen an fsj. i'm sure they 'wheel 'em but i haven't seen it.

valleycat I wish I could remember the names of the two yards I went to in the Phoenix area. Neither were specialty Jeep or 4x4 or truck yards. Both were basic, pull it yourself yards and they both had plenty of Wagoneers and J-pickups in them. My buddy in Phoenix never has any problems finding Jeep parts. Specialty yards always means more $$$$.

It seems to me that you're narrowing your field of view too much both with junkyards and bulletin boards. There are plenty of AZ residents on non-local boards.

Just trying to help you out!

i wish you could too. it's not like i won't find the parts i need. but if i needed manifolds by tomorrow, i would most likely have to spend the $325 they want at the jeep only yard.

this whole conversation started when Josh asked why anyone would choose headers over o.e. manifolds. having freshly gotten off the phone with a yard that qouted me $325 for used manifolds, i posted that they cost 3x as much as Heddmans or something like that. i hope the original poster is keeping his o.e. manifolds and i appreciate your support in completely hijacking his thread.

I sort have odd ball question here but i thin that field may be open enough for me to ask it, being that one post said why put headers on a jeep. I have a 98 wrangler and 2.5l and the stock exhaust mani has cracked, Why would I put another stock one on when it's going to crack!!! So with that said I plan on going with a borla or gale banks that has a life time warr,, or then again I may just buy stock and if it craks then put another stock in (it may be cheaper in the long run)

Headers have NO purpose on the little guy! Get yourself on eBay and get a nice stock manifold and keep it stock.
