I won't get any real work done until after tax season (I'm an accountant for now ), but I'm collecting parts here and there for a build-up on my 84 this spring. My uncle is going to teach me how to bend pipe and weld.
All I have so far is rebuilt hubs, ac compressor for onboard air, 33's, 15x8's and IFS front calipers. The vented landcuiser rotors seem pricey at the parts store. What has everyone had to shell out for them? I know building a rig isn't cheap, but I don't want to pay more than I have to.
My donor is an 88 4runner (V6 Auto, 4.10 gears ). Should I use the rear axle from it? (I need to decide before ordering gears and lockers) Is there anything that would prevent me from moving the hangers forward far enough to reduce the wheelbase to that of a regular cab and double bobbing the bed?
I'm planning on using chevy springs in the rear and yota rears in the front. Will I be able to make satisfactory front spring packs using only toyota leaves from the 84 and 88?
I believe I have a G52 transmission and whatever transfer case goes with it. What transfer cases will work for a dual case setup? I can score an 83 transfer case for some parts off my donor.
I'm hating the carb, so I'll probably swap in injection from a 2wd donor. (I'm waiting for my friend to retire his 93 with 320k on it)
Any other parts I can use from the 88?
Also, can someone recommend a site to host pics?
Thanks in advance and for all the advice you have already given on the board.
