Note that this bulletin applies to the following Montero's w/3.0 liter engines:
1992 - 1996 Montero's produced between 1/91-1/96
1997 - 1999 Montero SPORT'S produced between 8/96-3/99

While the Service Bulletin only officially applies to certain model years, it has become evident on this forum that it applies to ALL 3.0L V6 engines with the old style bolt! We by far get more people posting about GenIs with crankbolt issues in this Mitsu forum than any other model vehicle. Unfortunatlely, those models lay outside the official bounds of the bulletin.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Yes it did... Because when I bought the truck, I got it fairly cheap due to a water leak (W/P O-ring)... So, I replaced the W/P, front oil seal, timing belt, and re-used a bolt which had been apparently re-used too many times. (in a used vehicle, you never know what has, or hasn't been done) About three weeks later, I noticed a vibration while driving up hwy 58, and no sooner, I heard a Clunk..ding ding ding... and that was all she wrote.
Broken bolt, shot pulley, lost washer.
Grand total of parts to repair- $210

90 MONTERO ... Beat, Banged, 4DR recovery and recon vehicle... just keeps going and going...

How many people have re-checked the torque on their crankshaft bolt through the years? However, remind me and I'll re-check mine in Aug to see if it's gone funny.

Rechecked my crank bolt torque while doing a tuneup the other week. It's still holding tight and steady at 135ft/lbs just as when it was installed last year.
