In stock form, the 22RE air box does pull air from out in front of the radiator. And unless you add baffles and ducting, one of those cone filter setups will pull hot air from under the hood. My original snorkel setup ran under... hot air intake (only used when needed). My new intake setup pulls cool air in from the cowl:



Similar to Oop's setup but on the opposite side. I inserted the elbow into the cowl then added two 1/2" tubes for drains (to the left of the intake tube) and foamed in the area to seal it off from the wheel well:



Final version will have the long tube cut off and mated to a Safari snorkel outside the fender (special LHD-Hilux version from Australia).
