You're not making it easier on us mods, either, Jay. You could have told us more about teh Amigo hanging off your rear bumper, how the smiley-faced grill would have left a fine signature on the Diamante's trunk, or how the D handles evasive maneuvers better than your old Amigo, which might have survived Honda impact better but could never have swerved as well as the Mitsu (which replaced your trusty Isuzu 4x4).
I've damn near spun out my 4x4 Isuzu Amigo (yeah, you might guess it was a few years ago) jreking hard to avoid a swerving driver, and having to crrect immediately to avoid a K-rail while standing on the brakes since I was approaching a bridge abuttment at speed... and I sure would have loved share a few screams with the swerver who drove away... but hopping out of the car is a bad idea, man, regardless of the officer. It puts you in open traffic, and even at a stopped intersection, that's somewhere you don't want to be.
If you've GOTTA have the last word... follow the driver. Engage them later, out of traffic. Sure, they'll think you're a stalker, but you are less likely to die... and the pause between the stupid driving and the subsequent discussion will give you an opportunity to craft the most scathing comments (or think better of it and break off pursuit). Isn't it more fun to unload on someone with an audience, anyway?
I occasionally fall into fits road rage (lately, wishing I was in my Isuzu 4x4), but I try hard not to let it get the best of me. I'll cuss them, but that's all the trouble they're worth... and I trust that karma (car-ma?) will get them in the end. When I read to the end, I guess we're in synch on that...
BTW, kudos for you for avoiding stuffing the Diamante (or that fine Isuzu 4x4 that was trailing you). In some small way, for that, you win. It is damn funy that she zigged, sagged, and cut folks off, and STILL only managed one car-length advantage at the stop light.
The laws seem damn silly, regardless. Mebbe they'd be different if you were driving an Isuzu 4x4.
Let me know how the reporting plan goes... I do think there's gotta be a way to report aggressive drivers without necessarily suggesting that they're drunk. I've been tempted...
