Body Damage is Cool
The only Isuzu content here is that there was an old Amigo(unlifted...and really rusty) behind me when this all went down. Oh, and there is a BUNCH of killer wheeling around me, within sight of the freeway in most cases. I just have to share an experience with you guys.

as some of you know, i now live in vegas...a place who's rush hour traffic involves one of 2 main arteries around the city...and way too many people and cars for the available real estate.

Every morning I enjoy a nice spirited ride to work, doing about 80 just to keep up with everyone...and every morning, some twit in a silver civic 3 door blows by and is by far THE most agressive driver I have ever seen. This morning in particular, she did her usual "stuff the civic in too small of a hole while doing 90", the only difference is that it was MY front bumper she was about to remove.

I did not have room behind me to nail the brakes...that guy was too far involved with the vehicular proctology exam he was giving me to allow me any other out but to put the D on the shoulder...which i did. And then I backed off silently wishing this woman would meet her demise under the rear wheels of a tractor trailer.

Off she goes and back i pull...till my exit. Thru all her Evil Knievel antics...she ended up RIGHT in front of me at the exit light...and it had just turned red. Hmm...4 mins at least before the light will change, I decided against my better judgement to enlighten her to how I felt about her driving.

I tossed the D in park and strolled up to her side window only to be met with the side of her face as she flipped me the bird. I screamed at her that she must really love her job to put me and everyone else at risk so that she can get to work early. i got another bird and she turned up her radio and laid on the horn. THis just torqued my already high blood pressure into super high gear. I kindly pushed her antenna back down to cut down her reception and strolled back to my car. This is when I heard something that sent CHILLZ down my spine.

loud police car voice "step away from the car and place your hands on your head!" I never even saw the troopers cruiser when i pulled up to the intersection, i had such tunnel vision. I looked towards the voice and I saw the NHP officer shuffling over to me quickly and I did just as he said while I tried to explain what was going on...that i was verbally conveying my displeasure with her driving habits.

All Johnny law saw was big scary Jason bangin on the window of some little old ladies car. That is all he needed to see.

Unknown to me, the instant I stepped out of the car to engage the other driver in any fashion, i committed an aggravated misdemeanor. The second i rapped on her window it changed to a felony. I spent the next 20 mins in cuffs at a stoplight. I never got to explain fully the justification in my mind for my actions...and I feel that they truly would not matter. In the end the NHP officer let me go...no citation, and I helped miss gofast be late. I wish I could hear her story at the office about some big mean guy trying to beat her up.

Anyway...I just wanted to share this with the younger people that are even more full of testosterone than myself...

Just stay in your car...let the dork go on, the big guy upstairs has plans for said dork. I've taken my chill pillz now and i'm back to being able to type without my hands shaking from anger. I'm still bothered by the events today...I could have ended up with a hole in my chest...this state is very liberal about handgun laws.

[putting flame suit on]I know it wasn't the best decision I have ever made..but i'm also smarter than all of this. I'm laying the groundwork right now for a way to report agressive drivers without having to wear cuffs. wish me luck.

Wow, bet that livened up your day

Hmmm, I think I understand the intent of the law but I wonder if it would hold up to a court challenge...free speech and all that. AFAIK speaking on public land is not against the law, as long as you aren't blocking traffic. And rapping on the window doesn't seem any different than knocking on somebody's front door. The occupant can choose not to answer, as this charming person did. The antenna thing begins to get into criminal activity, but very minor since you didn't break it.

I have done gotten out and talked to people, not out of anger, but to tell someone they have a nearly flat tire or other dangerous condition with their vehicle to which they seem oblivious.

While she may be in the wrong every day, she wasn't the one they caught.

If she had a car problem....the cop was watching you. If you hadn't bent the antenna (and you weren't knocking too hard on the window), he probably would have ignored it.

But when they see it, the law takes no chances at shutting down anything that looks like violence. Practical jokes can escalate to someone getting hurt. Obvioulsly, violence can too.

Look at the upside--by your story, she has repeatdly shown no concern for others or, since she was fliping you off, her own well being. If she had a gun.....

Well, here's what woke us up last night.
Jaguar goes down highway with man standing out of sunroof shooting automatic assault rifle at other car, kill 3, critically wounds a fourth...believed to have stared with a shove at a bar an hour earlier. (I went to SMU and the incident last night was less than mile from my house.)

You're not making it easier on us mods, either, Jay. You could have told us more about teh Amigo hanging off your rear bumper, how the smiley-faced grill would have left a fine signature on the Diamante's trunk, or how the D handles evasive maneuvers better than your old Amigo, which might have survived Honda impact better but could never have swerved as well as the Mitsu (which replaced your trusty Isuzu 4x4).

I've damn near spun out my 4x4 Isuzu Amigo (yeah, you might guess it was a few years ago) jreking hard to avoid a swerving driver, and having to crrect immediately to avoid a K-rail while standing on the brakes since I was approaching a bridge abuttment at speed... and I sure would have loved share a few screams with the swerver who drove away... but hopping out of the car is a bad idea, man, regardless of the officer. It puts you in open traffic, and even at a stopped intersection, that's somewhere you don't want to be.

If you've GOTTA have the last word... follow the driver. Engage them later, out of traffic. Sure, they'll think you're a stalker, but you are less likely to die... and the pause between the stupid driving and the subsequent discussion will give you an opportunity to craft the most scathing comments (or think better of it and break off pursuit). Isn't it more fun to unload on someone with an audience, anyway?

I occasionally fall into fits road rage (lately, wishing I was in my Isuzu 4x4), but I try hard not to let it get the best of me. I'll cuss them, but that's all the trouble they're worth... and I trust that karma (car-ma?) will get them in the end. When I read to the end, I guess we're in synch on that...

BTW, kudos for you for avoiding stuffing the Diamante (or that fine Isuzu 4x4 that was trailing you). In some small way, for that, you win. It is damn funy that she zigged, sagged, and cut folks off, and STILL only managed one car-length advantage at the stop light.

The laws seem damn silly, regardless. Mebbe they'd be different if you were driving an Isuzu 4x4.

Let me know how the reporting plan goes... I do think there's gotta be a way to report aggressive drivers without necessarily suggesting that they're drunk. I've been tempted...

Well, you learned a lesson... no matter how wrong she was, as someone else stated... she didn't get caught.
As to the comment about free speach and you doing nothing illegal, it's pretty much illegal to leave your vehicle unattended on a public street in traffic... whether the light is red or not.

At least you were let go without any problems.

However, from now on, I would suggest every time you see this woman, pick up your cell phone and immediately dial the police. Tell them she is driving extremely wreckless and is weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off, and has almost cause x number of wrecks. Get her license plate number and tell that to the police when you call.
Since you get off at the same exit, tell them where she is going... I've done this before and it sometimes works. But yeah, let the police do their job...that's what we pay them to do.

Im pretty sure that here, all one has to do if you feel they are endangering lives is call the GSP. Thats the way it is with HOV lane violations, reporting drunk driving, and reporting road rage that could potentially harm someone. Myself, just getting my liscence, am particularly careful of my road rage, because i, for one, do not want to give younger drivers a bad rep. (do they not already have one?)
One thing i cant stand is people talking on their Cell phones while driving. I think in my town, its a crime to talk on a cell while driving. I find it hard to juggle a cell and a stick shift, except between 4th and 5th...thats just me.
I think you are lucky for not getting a citation. In my town, a ticket and an 8 hour defensive driving course (which i recommend to anyone that hasnt already had it) would be the common consequence for road rage...

lots of writing, and not much point....

I was driving my 93 Amigo and had an incident that I wrote about on this Isuzu board a while ago. Funny thing is, JasonB, you posted about your Isuzu right after me. I believe you were driving the Isuzu Amigo (or Isuzu Rodeo Sport, I forget which year Isuzu changed the name) when you wrote about it.

http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB68&Number=139679

And if you read the old post--I am up about 15 lbs since then, it's not due to steroids, and I still find that pointing my Isuzu Amigo at people does work...I just do it SAFELY and without anger to wake them out of their stupor. Rest of the time I drive like I'm in my motorcycle. (Honda, since Isuzu doesn't make motorcycles.

Again, I'd like to meet a 300 lb, bald, Isuzu Amigo/Rodeo Sport drivin' man someday. (Hopefully in Moab at the Isuzu wranglin' ZuZoo...job market and military willing) so be safe.

I think I worked it all in there. Oh, wait. [color:"red"]Isuzu Trooper, Trooper II, and Impulses, you rock![/color] (and Ascender, you're like the 28-year-old, livin' at home step-child we have to like to keep peace with mama)

OK, how 'bout a 300-lb Isuzu Trooper drivin' long hair? I probably intimidate people just as much as you do... my students tell me I do, anyway.:o

And, JasonB, please don't get out of your car to approach another in traffic. You never can tell what the other driver may do, nor do you know what may happen in traffic while you're not safely ensconced in your truck. Please be careful...

yeah...lesson is learned. When i still had the ISUZU AMIGO, I used to keep a few simple tools with me, and have since gotten out of that habit with the current family car.

Well...i have a man-bag/backpack that I keep with me at most times, I just chucked my big channel locks in there. If there ever is a next time, I'll wait till they get where they are going, and kindly remove all 4 of the valve stems for them...Hell, I might even put them in a baggie and tape them to the window for them, along with a business card for a nice tire shop owned by some really nice Meksakinz I just befriended. (thier spelling, not mine LOL)

That oughtta slow their down a little.
