Hey, if I build an aluminum adapter plate, why can't I use a really small Holley carb on my 2.6 motor?
They came with accelerator pumps, and electric chokes.
So, why not a little 300 CFM two barrel unit?
Just asking.

Someone has one here. I can't remember who or what details. I think he made an adapter that then mounted to a Weber plate.

If you want one, let me know - I have a Holley 82020 350 CFM marine (ideal for off-road) 2bbl (integral bowl) 2300 flange with electric choke - NIB just waiting for some lucky guy.

Frank: I'm no Holley expert, but is your's different than this one I found? And how would I know which one would be better? Thanks for any info.

Some differences:
1) 350 CFM 2) integral bowl (top gasket) - that one has a side mount bowl (think leaks) 3) cast aluminum color 4) dual fuel inlets (Y) 5) see-through fuel level sight plug
Other than that, they're probably pretty much the same. I think this one has a 6.5 power valve in it, but not certain. I don't think the montero pic site is working yet, but if you want I can email a pic to you.

That would be great Frank. I'll PM you my E-mail addy. And one more question.
In the stock carb, is the electric choke controlled by the computer? Or is it just a signal that is either on or off? If just on/off then any electric choke carb will work. Correct?
Thanks,

The choke is actuated by a 12v lead taken off the ignition switch - 12v heats the coil which moves the choke valve - about the simplest choke arrangement you can have.
I don't know about OE electric carbs/ECU, but all Holley electric choke models I've seen are ignition switched on/off.
