If you really want real HID you'll need to retrofit Xenon projectors into your headlight housing. The original projectors wouldn't blind anyone on the road + it'll look stock if properly done. My retrofit.

Looking great! Not sure if I have all the patience to do this mod. Plus, I don't have a spare vehicle to drive! Does anyone know what happened to Illusion Lighting? They had some nice retrofit kits.

Actually it wasn't that complicated to do retrofit. I did one side at the time so I could drive the 4runner(no spare vehicle for me ether)the second headlight was done in about 3 hours, painted and assembled the next day. Not sure about Illusion Lighting, i think they still exist cause the guy just bought a set of Q45 projectors from me last month.
Check out HID Planet there is a lot of useful information. Do a search for retrofits done by LittoDeviL, he has completed some very impressive retrofits.

Paul,
Did you paint it for the look or because you're afraid of blinding others? How much was the set? Looks like you bought them used. Is there a good place to buy? You always have some great mods. I copied your side marker mod a few years back. It's really unique!
Thanks.

Thanks man. I bought a pair from a local body shop for $70 a while back. I painted housing just for looks and to cover up the front plate that covers the projectors.
