Well , I finally got around totaking out the 2 gas tanks , and I found a couple of differences I am hoping somoen can help me clarify. One difference I think I can figure out myself , just a matter of running the hose a little different. The other part I think has to do with pumps built into the tanks.I have 8 pics here to try and point out the differences.I'll start with the tank from the 89 which is the good tank , the 90 tank leaks about half way up it.
Now , if you look at those pics , all 3 tubes ran the same path , one I think is a breather tube that goes off the little vent type thing on the end there. The other 2 tubes are on the same spot where that plug is with 2 wires , then on the side , which I didn't take a pic of for this one , there is another plug , and both plugs were plugged into each other. Now we go to the 90 tank.
This is a pic of the other plug that I didn't take a picture of off the 89 tank , but its an identical plug.
This one is showing the different style plug , and where the other hose went off and down the opposite side of the truck on that breather style tube in the middle.
This one shows the 2 plugs off the 90 truck , one of each plug on the tank , not like the 89 tank that just plugged into eachother. The next pic shows the extra plug end off of the tank.
I am assuming I just take the part off with the wire and the 2 hoses , and swap those parts , and that these are the fuel pumps?Correct me if I am wrong. And once I do that , I will have a good tank with no leaks , and the proper pump in the tank to plug into the wires on the 90 truck.Once this is done , its a matter of finishing up the rear end swap , only the leafs holding the rear on of the 89 , the 90 is all ready to pull.
