 Intake manifold gasket?

hopefully this week i will be replacing the head in my brother's '92 amigo. The question i have is the intake manifold gasket i have is made from a paper type material. When i was at the parts store today i was looking at a Fel-Pro intake gasket and it looked like it had a metal core type construction. Why the difference in the two gaskets? What is the stock isuzu gasket made from?

Where did you get the one you have, and when? I heard Isuzu changed their design to include a metal reinforcement after all the gaskets started going bad. I would be tempted to go with a metal core one.

The paper gasket i got probably several years ago, the metal core type gasket i saw at the parts store yesterday.

Ah, well then I definitely would go with the metal reinforced version, unless you like replacing gaskets. My Troopers IMG went out twice in 3 years.

Hmmm... paper from memory, but metal reinforcement wouldn't be a bad thing. They are pretty thin and tearing is not uncommon.
