A few weeks ago I posted in a thread about Dave's yea-big rock. A couple of us joked about having hit the same yea-big rock. Got me thinking about my oil pan dent. I'd had driven with it dented for about 7,000 miles and I needed to change the oil.

I had ordered a new pan a few months ago. I was planning on welding a skid plate to the bottom of it, but never seem to have the free time to do it right. So I crawled under the Sportie (before lift so it was a tight fit) to drop the pan. I removed the fasteners and the pan wouldnt drop. I worked on it, even pryed on it and still wouldn't budge! um... uh-oh <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

I had aready made an apointment with my local mechanic to change all the gear oils to synth. So I took the KIA in with my new unwelded oilpan and asked if he could to it.

He told me a couple of days later that they couldn't get it off. even dropped the front differential. Finally they had to cut out the bottom and remove the rest of the pan. Then they had to cut off the pick-up tube as it had become permanently part of the oilpan's sump baffeling.

This happened a few weeks ago. I thought I'd give all those guys out there with that yea-big dent the heads up.
