Is the LSPV spring rod suppose to be straight or does it have a large bow in it? I recently had a limb hang up between the spare tire and rear differential, after my brakes started acting funny, I noticed the the LSPV rod was bent in a bow as if it was clearing the spare tire. It will clear the tire even if straight but have never paid alot of attention to it till I started having the funny feeling braking problem and remembered the limb being hung under there. The FSM shows it as being straight but can't really say!!

Mine *was* nearly straight as I recall: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/Images/after_rear.jpg) One way to check is to see where the sensing arm is relative to the LSPV. If it it pushed clear to the top of travel due to the bend, then that is too heavy on the rear brakes and they will lock up first. I did something similar to Roger's mod. Man, what a difference.
My stoping distance increased after SAS. I'd adjust the lever but it's still not to my satisfactory. I found that my truck lean forward too much so the rear wasn't getting enough brake presure. Since I did the mod, it's much better.

I did something similar to Roger's mod. Man, what a difference.
