what`s wrong with used ones ??? i bought a set of used ones when i did my axle swap since the axle i had didn`t have any and they held up fine!!! i went out and bought a pair of Warn`s hubs( don`t ask)thinking they were better and grenaded one of them the first time out wheeling after i put my longfields in. i threw my stock ones back on and haven`t had a problem since. oh, by the way, that was with a lincoln locked front diff.
SAS88TOY, caged, lockered, Longfielded, etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah!!! 2005 Tundra Quadcab.

Asin hubs are among the best hubs out there. even an old used set will hold up to some serious punishment.

Get a pair of used ones, polish and paint them up real good, and sell them to him as new! He'll never know, and there won't be any difference!
Seriously. Tell him there is absolutely nothing wrong with used hubs. As long as the parts are all in good shape still, they don't really "wear".
Tell him to go to a Toyota dealer and price a new set of hubs. I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of $300-$400.

Thanks guys
I've already pushed the used ones but he's determined to spend more money than he needs to.

Well, maybe the price will change his mind. These are list prices and you can, of course, purchase discount. But even then, OUCH! You didn't say what year, sooooo .....
Solid Axle hubs: $265.40 EACH (43530-39017 aka 43530-59035)
IFS hubs did not list as a complete unit, but had the body and cover seperate:
Cover, 43509-35030, $180.94 EACH. Hub body: 43508-35010, $218.60 EACH. That's, er, umm, $399.54 EACH (cough, wheez).
Is your buddy ***** stupid? I've bought them (five of 'em) for $25 bucks each and they clean up and look/WORK like new. Just replace the gaskets and handle seal and you are ready to rock.
Tell your buddy to get real.
