A trick I learned is to attach a length of vacuum hose to the bleeder valve and submerge the other end in a container of brake fluid. As long as the free end stays submerged in liquid, you can leave the bleeder valve open and pump the pedal until all the air is cleared. The only drawback is the amount of fluid needed to keep the hose in, and to refill the MC reservior (but if you have to do it alone, this works).
