I've honestly never takin it over 3000 rpm because floored in 5th, down hill it won't rev more then 3000, so i'm stuck at 55, but the engine and transmition don't seem to be working hard. To put it simpler if I had a 6th gear i think i would be able to reach at least 60. I checked the distributer cap today and one of the "nipples" was really rusty. Could that cause a loss of power?
Thanx

Well 94 that engine should be shifted at 4000 rpm! Start out in first and do not shift till 4000 then 2 then 3 and when in 4th LEAVE it in there till you reach 4000 rpms..
I betcha you are shifting it like you had a big V-8 in it!
That engine LIKES rpms!
