I tried your suggestion and the engine shounds like its about to explode. It could be because my jeep has a flowmaster. But are you sure it can handle that much rpms? I did get it up to bout 70. I guess i was following the shift light.

I reread this and maybe I have an answer here.
Did you or anyone else take the stock intake system with the silencer OFF of the JEEP? Maybe you have an after market one that is real LOUD? And that is why you think the engine is about to come apart?
Look under there and tell us what you have..

OK. That takes care of the exhaust side. What kind of intake do you have? Stock, K&N, etc.

If it is laboring really hard at 400 RPM and it sounds raspy and ready to blow apart, it still might be a plugged up exhuast.
