Bring your truck over. I'll show you
What you are looking for is the connector I've posted before. It will be "pluged" with another connector that has a loop wire in it. It's all tucked up nice and neat, sort of out of sight. You need to cut or remove some tape, IIRC, to pull it down.

Pappy...I just finished attempting to replace the idler pulley bearing on my '90. It turns out that I had the '85 type pulley on there with the larger bearing and retainer clip although I had the correct size 14mm nut holding it on. Since I bought the 6203 bearing it was too small so I pried the seal off and repacked the old one as suggested by 94krawler. So far it works fine. Unless the previous owner swapped it out for some reason which I doubt, Im pretty sure this was the original pulley for this truck and am curious if anyone else has this type pulley on a newer truck?

6204...or sometimes it's just 204.....is a damn good spare item to keep in the truck....on road or trail trips. I've seen a couple go out. They all at least made a good squeal well in advance.

The idler pulleys squealing again! Is it possible that the bearings are shot and repacking wont help? I didnt use bearing grease, just some red multi purpose stuff. Off to NAPA for a 6204 bearing. Weird thing is that it squeals every time on start up and when I rev the engine and sometimes when turning sharply. The belts new and tight so its not that slipping.

The belts new and tight so its not that slipping. it still could be the belt. i've had new, properly tightened belts intermittently squeal before. maybe the belt or pulley gets glazed or something...i'm not sure...but i've had good luck with CRC belt conditioner to shut them up. anyway, it's easy to check for sure if you have a mechanics stetheocope (if you don't, i recommend getting one...they cost less than $10 and are a great diagnostic tool). just put the tip of the stethoscope on the bolt that holds the pulley on. you can hear the bearing very well that way...if it's got problems, you'll know it. also, make sure you don't overtighten the belts...that will trash the bearing and put undue stress on your crankshaft. definitely better to err on the side of too loose, imho.

the belt is still slipping on the PS pulley.....try some belt conditioner.

nah its the bearing. it used to do that w/ mine but i took the seals off each side and then sprayed it w/ brake parts cleaner and then put some in a tupperware to let it soak overnight. then the next day i dryed them w/ a heat gun and then put some hi-temp disc break and bearing grease in it. it spins silent now. something like this was posted above but i thought i would comment on how i did it. learned it from the cleaning instructions on my bones swiss skateboard bearings a few years ago. those things are still fast and smooth as hell after 4 years.
