I started to design my rear bumper. Its not much to look at now, but you can almost see how its going to look. Its made of cardboard right know just to see how its going to look. Its going to look alot better when made of steel. The frameing is 2x2x1/4" angle, and theres going to be 6x1/4" plate on top and bottom of that. You can't realy see the angles of the bumper in these pictures. What do you guy's think so far??? I'll add on a swing out tire carrier too, that would have been kinda hard to make out of cardboard I was going to make it out of 6" c-channel then add 3x1/4" plate angled at the bottom of the channel like my front bumper, but it look too low. this way it gives me a much better departure angle. 1. 20 feet of 6x1/4" plate $37.20 2. 20 feet of 3x1/4" plate $19.20 3. 20 feet of 2x2x1/4" angle $23.40 Total $79.80 and thats more than i'll ever need for just one bumper. And just for reference 20 feet of 6" c-channel is only $65.80 Is this the average prices? I thought its was going to be alot more money. here's some pics. ![[Linked Image]](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/424000-424999/424221_217_full.jpg)

Man even your cardboard model puts my newly fabbed bumper to shame.
Your fab work always amazes me

Very nice, especially like the anchor shacles. Do you think they could pull me out It really makes me want to build a new one for mine now. Mine was one of my first projects so I kept it simple: 2X4 tube beveled and caped the ends and added a receiver. Not exactly cool but very functional and very strong. Can't wait to see the end result CJ oh and yeah, thats about right on the steel prices. But you think thats cheap Those prices are double what they were 18 months ago.

Looking good so far. The only thing on that I would worry about is the lack of transition on the sides of the bumper as they curve forward and terminate. I can't tell exactly how far out from the body they stick from the pics. I imagine I would probably get it caught on a tree or something like that.
You may have more room to play with in Texas, but new England trails are pretty narrow at times.
Are you going to do something different for a hi-lift mount when you build a tire carrier? --jeremy

when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

I love the design. Nice and compact, yet it still has style. That is the similiar design I have always had for my Rodeo.
I can't wait to see how it turns out.

I can't tell exactly how far out from the body they stick from the pics. I imagine I would probably get it caught Hey thanks guy's. I hope it comes out good. That is one of the things i still need to work on, the bumper sticks out about 2" on each side. I'm probably going to cut in off at a angle, and maybe add some rounded plate. And i don't realy know how the wheeling is here....I haven't been yet . I'll probably mount the hight lift behind the tire, i just need to be able to lower it to fit in my garage. Thats why its so low in the pics. oh and yeah, thats about right on the steel prices. But you think thats cheap Those prices are double what they were 18 months ago. Man, i was thinking it would be alot more. At least this way i'll have enough left to maybe build some better skid plates. Mine was one of my first projects This is still one of my first projects, that why i'm kinda wondering how its going to turn out . And thanks again for all the good comments.
