I'm still working on this. I got something in my eye, so i'm going to have to take a break for a while. I was wearing eye protection and all, but still got something in my eye . Now I have to wear an eye patch , Anyway hopfuly i'll be back working on this soon. I've got most of the finishing work done(not perfect).I'm going to put some kind of roll on bedliner on it( to cover up some of some of the screw ups).

Heres a shot of the bumper, wlds ground down, and almost done. After my eye gets alittle better i'm going to paint/bedliner it. I'm going to add on the tire swing out later. [Linked Image]

Really looks sweet man, very nice fab work. Got a pic of that metal bender in action? I can't really see how exactly it works from the picture...

Just as a side note, after seeing how much work went into this bumper, all the time and labor, anyone reading this thread should know that at around $600 for a finished product, Darlington Off-Road and Independent4x are literally giving these things away. Even with all the right tools and know how, an awful lot of raw labor goes into these things... My currently hourly labor rate is ultra low compared to what it used to be, but even still, it's a better deal to just pay for the finished product.

Now, that being said, the project is what it's all about, the fun and the fabrication, etc, so for that reason alone I'd recommend that anyone out there should try to do something like this themselves... But when it comes down to value for your dollar, paying around $600 for something like this shipped to your door, that's a steal. Anyone who thinks that's expensive hasn't done any work like this...

My 2 cents... Great work, once again...

-Chris

Bumper looks great

Sorry to hear about your eye. I've been there. I got some metal shavings blown past my eye protection. Not fun

Be careful

Hey thanks guy's!! My eye is pretty good now. It sucks having somthing in your eye, and wearing an eye patch. I've got the bumper done with (for now). There will be a tire swing out later, and I'll add on the parts that wrap around the top sides. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. I used duplicolor bed liner on it, witch looks pretty good. It also covers up some stuff, like grind marks.
And i'll definatly say that $600 is just about right, theres tons of work that goes into it. But it was cool to make it, I've never realy made anything like this before.Anybody can build one, If I can do it, you can do it. I've only got about $100-$150 into this, But theres an awful lot of hours into it. I'll get some pics of the bender, its realy simple, theres a peace of 2x2" angle that pushes metal into another peace of angle. In one of the pics I used my high lift and it lifted the troop with no problem, The tires off the ground in the pic But its hard to see. The bumpers so high, I maxed out my hight lift quick. Anyway here are some pics...What do ya think???

THat Turned out sweet man. I just need to drop my bumper off at your place and let you finish it off for me :>

I like the liner on it. I may have to do that with my rear bumper when I do some mods to it.
