Body Damage is Cool
FYI, I've had a couple of folks PM about my body lift, so I thought I'd pass along this information.

I installed the Performance Acessories 1" body lift on my 2nd gen trooper. The install took about three hours. Since there so many BL installs on the site, I won't get into detailed installation procedures, but I will mention that this lift is very easy, cheap, and doesn't require steering, gas hose, etc. extensions. You will, however, need to adjust bumper brackets a bit.

Here's what you need to know.

First, you'll need:
*12(twelve) "pucks" or "mounts"
*6(six) Grade 5 nuts and bolts (options below)

To save some $$, I used 4 large and 8 mini "pucks" rather than the 8 large and 4 mini pucks that come with the PA 3" lift kit. I decided to save my front 6 bolts and reuse them in the 6 captive mounts in the rear. The front bolts are the perfect length for the lifted rear. PLus, I didn't want to loook for metric bolts. IN the front six mounts, I bought 7/16 x 6" grade 5 bolts from Tractor supply for the $4. These are a little beefier than stock, but fit perfect.

If you need pucks, you have a couple of options. First, you can try to find a dealer that sells "replacement blocks" or you can call Matt at www.indpendent4x.com

Good Luck!

Used 12 plucks instead of 16, down sized 8 plucks and used grade 5 instead of 8.... Doesn't sound so safe to me.

Its plenty safe. I just made a typo on the puck count. All of the puck I used were the same size as OEM body mounts. Also,a 7/16 grade 5 is 10% stronger than the smaller grade8s that they replaced.

Mark,

Small question but confused: PA makes a 1" kit (which I couldn't find for Isuzu), or you special-ordered the pucks from them?

Also, PICS? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks,
Santi

No 1" kit is available, but you can buy the pucks seperately and piece together a kit for very cheap. I really didn't want a body lift, but neede some extra space to weld on my sliders. Also, I have a little bit of rubbing on my ARB bullbar. The extra 1" allowed me to lift bumper a little bit. Not sure if rubbing is resolved. I'll probably cut 1/2" just to make sure.

The one inch body puck also adds leverage...
Any reason you didn't use a grade 8 bolt?

Mark,

I pretty much would have had the same issue on mine - but mine are trimmed down about 1-2". I'd say all you'd really have to trim is the lower lips of the end pieces, that way you dont have any points jutting out waiting to chomp on your soft mudtire tread.

P.S. Your ride looks great!

GUys: I'm not going to argue about grade 5 vs grade 8 bolts. I figure if Grade 5 bolts are strong enough for Performance Acessories to use in most if not all of their 3" lift kits, then its good enough fo me to use on my 1" body lift.

Here's an abstract from their web page:
With more than 20 years experience in the off-road industry, Performance Accessories continues to set the standard for truck and SUV body lifts. We prototype every kit ourselves to develop a product you know will fit your truck. We are dedicated to quality control, so nothing but the finest materials go into our kits: high grade reinforced nylon lift blocks, grade 5 zinc plated hardware,
