FYI: Just picked this up from 4WP for $17.XX shipped to GA... great time to get some if interested! Hehe, quick thread revival (from Warsaw, Poland might I add - something fun to come home to in a week)

This is a generic question: for those who have done a 1" Bl on either a Rodeo or Trooper, did you unbolt the fan shroud or do anything with the radiator?

I'm pieceing together the step by step process from a few articles online as well as previous posts in this forum, but just wanted to get the final OK from a few 4x4wire members.

Thanks y'all,
Santi

How about on an Amigo I removed the radiator and drilled new mounting holes in it 1.25" higher than the original holes (my BL is 1.25"... obviously you'll want to measure down 1" for yours). There was no metal to move the upper hole higher on the passenger's side of the radiator, so it only has one bolt holding that side in place. But, between the two bolts on the driver's side and the one on the passenger's side, its not going anywhere. Had to do some minor trimming on the fan shroud as well, but nothing major.

LSGA, just saw your answer, are you Polish, or were you just traveling out there?

No, I just added the pucks, I did not extend and hoses or anything. I did have a minor coolant leak near heater area for a day or two, but it healed itself.

I did a one inch and never bothered with the fan shroud at all. No problems to report.

When I did the 1" BL on my 99,I was looking into doing 1.5"-2". I couldn't find any of the metric fine thread that would be long enough for the rear captive bolts. The stock front bolts should work fine in the rear up to a 1.25" BL. On my 87 trooper 1" BL, I reused the front bolts, but was 2 bolts short. I made some using althread and with two nuts with the outer one weld to the althread and the inner one to act as a jam nut.

I did a full 3" on my Rodeo and left the rad in place...so far no problems after 2 years. I did remove the bottom protion of the shroud to keep it from interfering. I just readjusted the tubes to the radiator and never had coolant leaks or anything.
