Jeepete is right. It really doesn't matter since the filiment works off of heat, and 1 watt is 1 watt in AC or DC. The whole point in stringing them up in series is so that a regular old gasoline generator can run them with out a step down and rectifier. If one blows a test light will tell you in under a minute wich one it is.....

When I built these lights, we used my grandfather's old 110 generator. Worked well, but took 2 men and a boy to move the genny. When he quit fishing and sold his truck, I didn't have any room to haul the big honkin thing around and saw the smaller genny and got to thinkin since I already have the lights, and since I would need a genny to run anything else, I would look at getting the small 1000 W genny.
From what I have read here, it sounds like it will work.
As far as the 12V not running off 110, one wont, but if you wire 8 in series like this +--(0 0)--(0 0)--(0 0) etc. -- - then you are pulling approx 13.75V per light.
Thanks for all your help

Well, the question seems to be answered several times here, some right and some wrong. Below is a picture of what I use when I go fishing. It does include having a Jeep hooked up to them, and they run off the Jeep's electrical system. I think that if I were to run much more, I would scare the fish away! Each of these lights are 55 Watts and are more than enough for me to see what I am dragging out of the ocean. As for lighting up the entire beach, go with halogen's on stands (sears and wally world have sales on them a couple of times a year) and get you a little 1000 watt (1 kW) genie from honda or wherever. This doesn't answer your question, but gives you something else to work with. Good luck with fishing and hope you have lots of tight lines and fare weather this year! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.geocities.com/ncbba2358/images/DSC07142_My_Jeep_Windshield.JPG)
