When I built these lights, we used my grandfather's old 110 generator. Worked well, but took 2 men and a boy to move the genny. When he quit fishing and sold his truck, I didn't have any room to haul the big honkin thing around and saw the smaller genny and got to thinkin since I already have the lights, and since I would need a genny to run anything else, I would look at getting the small 1000 W genny.

From what I have read here, it sounds like it will work.

As far as the 12V not running off 110, one wont, but if you wire 8 in series like this +--(0 0)--(0 0)--(0 0) etc. -- -
then you are pulling approx 13.75V per light.
