ok, my engine is out.
Heres what I found. The transmission can stay in the vehicle but needs to be shifted backawards far enough to be mostly disconnected from the engine. The Engine can only move forward about 2 inches which isn't quite enough. Plus my 2" body lift allowed me to raise everything higher than normal.
Things I would suggest for this job:
A really tall hoist, that way you can leave your big tires on and still have almost enough room to wiggle around underneath on your creeper.
beg borrow or buy a tranny jack. That trans/t-case is big heavy and awkward. It also seems to need to be moved to get the engine out.
Pulling the wiring harness with the engine wasn't really too bad.
The Barney song doesn't seem to work from the other side of the transmission. maybe if I sang it backwards <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
rent someone who's done it before <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />
