Thanks Mitch.

There are atleast nine mitsu owners in utah that are on this board. And I have two friends that have monteros that are not on this board.

1. Dennis Thompson
2. grass13
3. Lee N
4. Multimetal
5. Paul Murphy
6. Racer4
7. tbonesdam
8. Tycer

We could get a good turn out for a ride to knolls. "80 miles west of Salt Lake City off of I-80. Take Knolls exit, and go south on overpass. Turn west onto old highway and go about .5 mile then turn south across the railroad track to enter the area."

"Nearly 36,000 acres of sand dunes, hills, and mud flats located in the Great Salt Lake Desert make a perfect OHV play area, and Knolls is less than two hours away from Salt Lake City. Tons of off-road fun is waiting, but stay within the boundaries. Knolls OHV area does border a bombing range."

As a newbie to off-roading I am looking to you guys to baptize me into the rough stuff. I am planning on many mods and plan on being pretty serious. (Think my racing days are for the most part behind me.) To finish my engine, all I need now is a new oil pump.

Also, can I put a Weber on my 2.6 and still get it thru Utah emissions testing? I hear that they really make the 2.6 come alive. I have a bunch of mods already in the new engine, so the Weber will just be one more speed item.

Thanks,

i think ive seen your rig around... is there a big white sticker on the back window? btw, motero, its called tear a part and its 652 s. redwood rd. on the west side(our little secret ). its sign is about the size of a shoe box so its hard to spot. just no. of indiana. they search your tool bag going in and out, and will give you a print out of where what ever rig your looking for is. they also charge admission, $1 . but all in all, theyve got very reasonable prices . mitch is so right, its almost to organized to be a junk yardand. after all the montys ive looked at that were basically stripped, its very refreshing to find a gold mine like this... theyre practically virgin, 2 lwbs in my exact flavor! except for the swb, many buzzards got to it. you wanna try to meet up there sometime this friday? im down for a trail ride this may, or mabey even sooner ... you wanna do the honors?
p.s. NOBODY TOUCH MY DOORS OR SEATS OR MY RIM !!JK.
but really nobody take my door...

'Fraid I'm not really able to participate in any trail rides. The Monty is in need of new head gaskets (I hope) at a minimum, so is currently not running. Plus, between all my kid's activites I'm involved with, keeps me pretty busy.

I'm more than willing to supply whatever knowledge I have, though.

Hmmm. Too bad. I know he put a diamante engine in w/ the diamante cams. IIRC, he mentioned it was much quicker w/ a bit more horses but I don't recall if there was any reduction in torque.

Did any of you guys buy his rig off him? His first name was Chad I believe.

I went to that yard today. There are lots of good parts. I pulled two trailing arms. To replace my two broken ones. $32.00 for both, Not great but not bad either. They would not let me take my jack in there so i had to run around and collect spare tires and axel shafts to hold up the axel so i could get the trailing arm off. I have broken three trailing arms in the last year.
