I know the 3rd gens do as well (the seats can be put down flat 96-02), but I have never measured it, but I dont think its big enough, then again Im about 6'2 so Im a bit skewed...

I need a vehicle I can sleep in the back. I'm 5'9" 160lbs. I need a flat surface inside the vehicle for a good night sleep.

Can the 4Runner rear seats fold flat so it's level with the rear cargo area? If not flat, can the rear seat-backs be removed to provide a fairly flat surface if I used some padding over the seats and use my backpack to fill the rear seating floor area?

It seems to me the older 4Runners are longer... with more room in the back.. is this true? If I slept diagonally, would my 5'9" body fit? I'd require 6" of length for a comfortable sleep.

I used to have a 93 SR5 pickup with a camper shell that I could sleep in the truck bed comfortably with my dog. What
about the 4Runner?

Thanks!
