You can also get away with 2 floor jacks, and 2 ratchet straps.

Use a floor jack to support the tranny when you remove the crossmember, and then put a ratchet strap across from each framerail. When you disconnect the bellhousing, use the jack again for support, then add a ratchet strap across the front.

After you have the tranny supported by the straps, use the jack to support the rear of the engine. Then you can get another jack to assist you in lowering the tranny. Release the lock on one strap, and lower the jack until there is tension. Them repeat back and forth between the straps until it is all the way down.

Installation is the reverse method, only you don't need the jacks to get it up... Only to support it when you reset the straps (you will run out of cranking room, and have to pull the excees back through the straps.

This is how I have gotten away with removing and installing trannys for years... All without a tranny jack, and no partner needed.
