I've done the dual shackle set up on two of my trucks. It works great. If you are going to make the shackles yourself, thats cool, but make them about 8 inches eye to eye. If you are going to buy a set or have them made, go to 4wheelparts and get a set of front and rear 2" lift shackles for and '85 pickup, bolt them together, and then to your truck and springs. They are about $40 a set, but they're totally bomb proof, and they come with very beefy hardware. I think they're well worth the money and hassle saved.
