Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, just as I was thinking I was gonna get the engine back in the truck finally, it had to give me one more round of grief...

Went to put on the rocker cover and as I was putting on one of the nuts, it got tight, tight, then loose... .
Took the nut off and of course, the threads are done for. I was hoping that maybe I could cut off the damaged part and make use of it still, but once you put that little grommet on the cover, there wouldn't be any threads left for the nut.

Anyone ever have this happen to them before? I'm hoping maybe the stud can be replaced somehow??

Body Damage is Cool
try using a dye. that should work if it's not stripped too bad.

They're stripped quite badly.... I don't think a die is going to work.

Hey Darren (you canadiens spell funny btw) if you have trouble tracking one down give me a shout and I'll toss one or two of them up over the border. Advantage to being a parts scrounger is having spare odd-ball parts for times of need.

*Wunder how that Darin on Bewitched (Webitched ?) spells his name?

Ah yes, I figured one of us would make a comment on the names sooner or later! I do change my name to Darin once across the border to comply with U.S. Customs ....lol.

Anyway, I solved the problem today.. was really easy actually. Went down to Toyota and picked one up for about $1. I also picked up a shiny new sticker for the rocker cover...... that'll be the icing on the cake of the rebuild .

Thanks for your offer though!! (I'll have to keep you in mind for next time...heh heh).
