If a direct from NZ (or Australia/UK/wherever) factory hood scoop is too much trouble, you could always buy any aftermarket functional hood scoop (check JC Whitney or the like) and ghetto-fab (if necessary) any under-hood ductwork.

I once plumbed some flexible dryer vent hose from the passenger corner of the air dam to the front of the alternator on an '88 Buick Park Ave because it kept killing alternators. The extra airflow solved the problem and I never bought another alternator for that car again.
