Thanks Brian.

The truck is now insured and plated, I've been driving it around a bit today! First trip to the gas station for some diesel, too. Got some stares from the truck guys when they heard the turbo and the rattle of the engine (as well as the noise - no exhaust until Monday when I take it to the custom muffler shop).

The hood scoop was finished over the weekend and early this week. I'm making a list of the little things to be finished before I get back to school, many of which I hope to have taken care of this weekend.

In other news, the clutch is junk and is really slipping a lot. I was worried that the high engagement meant something was wrong, and it seems to be so (only the last 1" or so of pedal travel means anything in terms of clutch actuation). It slips like mad under even light throttle, so I need to buy a kit and replace it.

Sure would have been easier back in 2005 when everything was apart - oh well, live and learn. The budget was stretched at that time and I didn't even know whether it was going to fit in the Trooper, so I do have an excuse.

Stay tuned ...

A couple of new posts on the blog, detailing the hood scoop installation and a couple of other final steps.

On to the clutch ...

This post is simply to signal the end of the conversion process. The Trooper is now my daily driver, and I couldn't be more pleased with its performance.

The blog has some of the latest tweaks/repairs detailed, and I intend to keep it updated as I finalize a few outstanding items (A/C and cruise control are chief among them).

Again, thanks to all who contributed advice and encouragement - couldn't have done it without you all.

The cruise system seems wholly separate from the (now removed) engine control computer, and the cable actuates the gas pedal, so I think making it work again should be fairly straightforward. I need to go through the vacuum system first and connect everything. I have already swapped shift towers from the old transmission to the new one so I could retain the neutral switch for the cruise.

The Trooper also has intermittent wipers, although they are not variable.

In other news, I calculated the mileage: 14.4 gallons of B20 biodiesel over 416 miles = 28.8 MPG. I will continue to do so over time and get a better picture. Once the weather improves, I will be using B80, so this may affect the mileage.

The range is also impressive, as 416 miles still left me with about 1/3 of a tank of fuel. Total range for one tank ought to be around 550 miles. I keep it around 60 on the freeway, which probably helps.
