damon...#1 rule when going for a smog check...TUNE UP & OIL CHANGE before you go!!!!!!!!!...this serves 2 purposes...keeps you on a regular tune up schedule( should be once a year) and it gets alot of the gunk area's of your engine cleaned up and in shape to performe well for a test...i was an A.S.E. parts specialist at kragen( shuck's in your area) for 9 years, just before a test i do a full tune up, change the oil( on high milage motors put in 20w50 just for the test, helps with any ring blow-by probs, fac. ford mechanic told me that one), just BEFORE the tune up run a tank of fuel with injectot cleaner and use some gumout down the throat.......its a routine i do faithfully and ive never faild a test...my old nissan had 230k on it and my 95 yj has 159k on it now <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />...try it out i think you'll like it
