I'm ready to go to Pick-a-Part and select some new bucket seats for my '81. Does anyone have any knowledge about what will fit the best, besides exact replacement Toyota seats? I'm kinda tall so seat height has to be stock height or lower. Any suggestions????

All depends on how much modification you are willing to do.
Seats in these trucks are pretty low already, so your best bet is a small sedan/hatchback of some kind. Vans, domestic trucks, Toyota Echos all have that high "command seating" that I think would put your head somewhere above the roofline.
Factory buckets should all but bolt in. Good luck finding a set for an 81 that are in anything remotely resembling reasonable shape. Not saying it can't be done, but you are going to have to do some hard looking to find them.

Any kind of Toyota pickup/4runner bucket should be a pretty easy fit. Same goes for buckets from a car too. You may have to drill a hole or two, but nothing much.
I think seats from a 90s 4runner matching your interior color would be the best bet.

I have heard that 80's integra seats bolt in all but 1 bolt. Also have heard that the 80's toyota cars fit. I have a 82 and am looking into a switch

It seems around where I live, any 1990 and up Honda bucket seats are a pretty popular swap (Prelude, Civic, etc...). I haven't heard of any major issues about getting them to fit (but hey, no big deal to make a bracket or two either).
I'm planning on putting the seats from my '91 Integra into my truck once I get some racing buckets in the car.

Last year I swaped a set of bucket seats out of a 94 4runner sr5 into my 92 pickup. I think they are the most comfortable seats i've ever sat in.

I have a 94 Xcab, about to install Corbeau Sport Seats I have the pass-bucket and the drivers these are the 60/40 split. Measure your seat bracket bolts CtoC. I tried to find SR-5 buckets on Ebay WOW they are not cheap so I went with the Corbeau's they look and feel great the best price and service was from Jim Huston at Motorsportseats. I'll be selling the originals they are in very good shape I'll send you pictures if your interested.

That is a steal, a couple of SR5 I've seen on Ebay went for over 300bucks. Great find you must have good KARMA.

Years ago I picked up a set of Subaru seats and welded up some simple brackets to bolt them into my '85 truck -- my first welding project on the truck! They were pretty comfortable and I used them for a number of years. Then found a deal on a pair of Recaro seats and swapped them in with some more fabricated brackets.
