Head replacement (timing question) #595049 04/21/05 01:11 PM

While replacing the head in my '92 amigo, I decided to replace the clutch also. While torqueing on the flywheel bolts i turned the crankshaft maybe 1 1/2 revolutions. When i put the head back on, i should line the mark on the crankshaft with the mark on the lower timing cover and the camshaft with the appropriate mark on the upper timing cover. The distributor should then be installed with the rotor pointing at the #4 cylinder and it should be correct?

Thanks

What I have heard and done, is rotate the crank until the timing mark comes up and the valves on the number one cylinder are closed and not moving. That is TDC. Then install the distributor with the rotor at the number one cylinder. HTH
