Hi, got a 99 Amigo AT that lately has given me some trouble starting. Randomly I will have to start it 3-5 times because it will not hold idle and then go somewhere and comback later then it will start up and idle very high ~2500 rpm. I have had the manifold and intake gaskets replaced within the last year and spark plugs changed too. I took it to a shop and of course they could not reproduce the problem. I am guessing a temperature sensor if there is one, as it seemed to have started giving me trouble when the weather warmed up recently. Any insight would be greatly apprectiated.

You got a '99 and therefore, you have the ability to have your rig hooked up to an OBDll scan tool that may give you some insight as to what your problem may be.

Thanks for replying, but my cel is not on. And it has been very cool/rainy almost cold here lately and have not had the problem once, inclines me to believe it is some sort of temperature sensor.

'99 Amigo 3.2 V6 automatic.
I'm having the same problems. At the first start of the day, it will stall and won't hold idle. Later in the day on the way home from work, it will surge to 2000 RPM and stay there for awhile. Both symptoms seem to disappear with driving the vehicle for 5-10 minutes or so. Has anyone found a solution? This could be the intake manifold gasket problem, but I took mine to the dealer yesterday and they couldn't find anything wrong. No CEL.

Geoff

Soto, you have PM
And to everyone else with similar issues, the problem has seemed to go away ever since I put in STP Super Concentrated Gas Treatment, and the next tank I used STP Compete Fuel System Cleaner (says use only twice a year!). I guess there were a lot deposit build up in the fuel line. Both products are quite a bit more expensive than the usual red bottle of stp, that doesn't seem to do much I noticed. www.stp.com has more info.
