Getting the Wheeling Fever
Has anyone put 6.5 inch speakers in the front doors of a LWB? I ask because the 3.5 inch dash speakers are too wimpy, even if I get nicer ones.

If anyone has done this, I'd love to hear how you got them to fit, where you put them, etc. There is a hole in the front bottom for a 4 inch speaker, I'm thinking I may just expand that to fit the larger speaker. But my main concern is depth - there is not much room between the door panel and the window mechanism. I dont want the speakers to stick out into the cabin too much.

I will be replacing the rear speakers too, but that's easy cause the stockers are 6.5 inch.

What year? (it would help if you added the year/model vehicle to your signature. Click on the My Home link above. Then at the bottom of that screen to the right under the Main Configuration section of your home screen, click the Edit link for your Personal Information. On the next screen simply add the description to the space marked for Signature.

I've got a 1990 LWB w/ 5" boston component's up front.

The windows required me to use a spacer to move the speaker 1/2" out from the door.

OK, thanks, I added my signature.

Crutchfield has a great deal (80 dollars off) on some Kenwood excelon 6.5 inch speakers, and 50 dollars off if you buy 2 sets of speakers and a head unit. I can't resist.

Did you make the spacer or is that something you can buy?

well guys I am too thinking of replacing the speakers both front and rear on my 1997 SWB

but i have a problem c my SWB dont have the front speaker in the door it is only in the dash that is the 10cm speaker which it it very very weak
my BIG BIG problim it how to reach the rear speaker Bcuz so far i had not figured a way to open it and remove it
another thing is the front doors, the door panel has a space for a speaker but the cover dont so i might have to cut the outer panel of the door

The coclusion is:
-how can I open the rear speaker
-how to fix a speaker in the front

Any help will be appreciated
