So far I've checked the kickdown cable, lubed it with atf, dropped the pan and changed the filter and its still a problem.

I'm saving a valve body cleaning for last resort.

You should have cleaned that out while you were changing your filter. For some reason I think that is the reason my Overdrive isn't working. Even after tightening up my kickdown cable almost all the way, sometimes it still shifts too soon and will not want to kick the tranny down. Stupid automatics

Thanks Doug.. I might be up for a road trip to michigan after I get my turbo truck back on the road

valve body has something like 106 identical parts. I rebuilt my heads but cleaning the valve body sounds like a nightmare.

Body Damage is Cool
I still have the auto tranny and Tcase for the 87 2.6, 78K miles, if you need it. The kick down cable has been replaced.

Thanks, but then I would have to install it...not to mention get it out to NY. I think I'll try the 45mph trick for now and hope that works while I'm looking for a new governor.

Till then I'll just tell my girlfriend "it's suppose to do that."
